Smart aquarium management system
Musil, Libor ; Kvíčala,, Radek (referee) ; Hudcová, Lucie (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design of an intelligent aquarium management system. The system is going to be based on the i.Mx8DV platform with graphical output on the touch screen. In the thesis, the methods of measuring and controlling the quantities, that are critical for the proper operation of the aquarium, are discussed. Also, the i.Mx8DV platform and the Neutrino operating system are described. This thesis solves the selection of suitable sensors and design of printed circuit board for connection of the i.Mx8DV platform with selected sensors. The principles of network communication and web server implementation options are described. In the end, the application is described.
An Aquarium as an Ecosystem Suitable for Ethological Observations of Fish
Mejstříková, Lucie ; Hanel, Lubomír (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
Aquaristics is a very widespread hobby not only among adults, but also among children. However, the aquarium may not only serve as an decorative and relaxing element, but also as a teaching tool. Through project-based learning, the ethology of fish, for example their orientation in space and time in relation to where they feed or their epigamous and social behaviour, can be studied there. The success and failure of fish farming and plant cultivation points to the imbalance of minerals and substances in the water, so it is important to take into account their cycling in the aquarium. This paper describes how to set up and care for an aquarium and it also provides various recommendations. To illustrate the cycling of substances, energy and matter, simple diagrams have been created that can also be used in ecology lessons. In the practical part, the biology of model aquarium fish has been described, accompanied by many photographs. In the didactic part, worksheets were designed - one to serve as a basis for project-based learning, the other for data analysis. The effectiveness of the worksheets was verified in the sixth and eighth grade of a primary school. Since the first worksheet had very low return and was frequentely misunderstood the second worksheet was created. This one was less time consuming...

History, development and present breeder trends in aquaristics
Kučerová, Kateřina ; Hanel, Lubomír (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
History, development, and present breeding trends in aquaristics The presented diploma thesis is based on empirical research, and deals with the history, development, and current trends in aquaristics. The theoretical part is focused on qualitative content analysis of relevant specialized literature. This thesis defines history and development of aquaristics in the world, as well as in our country, and compares current and past aquarium equipment and methods. In this work are presented and described current trends in modern aquaristics. The text is complemented by contemporary drawings and layouts of historical and recent equipment and technology. The research part is focused on data obtained from quantitative content analysis of aquarium publications, where is observed frequency of mentions in the text of particular species of aquarium fish. At the same time the results are compared with the content analysis of statistical data of aquaristics portals aimed at the real preferences of breeders. From the conclusion results that in their articles the authors preferred some of the selected families in each of the examined periods. Most preferred family was Cichlidae, Characidae and Cyprinidae. However, often presented species of aquarium fish do not correlate with the real preferences of modern...
